Alex "Assassin" Karalexis
was born on September 20, 1977 in Boston, Massachusetts.
From and early age Alex began playing organized soccer
and excelled quickly. He was usually the captain on most
of his teams and was voted MVP of the Massachuesetts all-star
game. From a young age Alex dreamed of becoming a professional
soccer player. After high school Alex went on to play
one year at Massassoiate College but was forced off the
team due to a recurring leg injury that sidelined him
for the entire next season. Alex got healthy and decided
to tryout the following year for the Cape Cod Crusaders
professional soccer team. Alex made the squad and achieved
his dream of playing pro ball. Alex played one season
but once again was sidelined by the same injury. After
the injury would not heal properly Alex decided that it
was probably in his best interest to move on and explore
other avenues as an athlete.
To stay in shape Alex decided to enroll in some classes
at a local martial arts gym. There he learned Jiu-Jitsu
and kickboxing. After several months of training, one
of Alex's friends dared him to sign up for a local promotion
and fight an MMA bout. Alex agreed and took on his first
match. Alex won his first match in convincing fashion
and TKO'd his opponent early in the first round. Alex
loved the rush and decided that he would continue to explore
this newfound sport. Over the next year and half Alex
continued to train and fight and would go 4-0 in his first
four matches.
Winning consistently turned some heads and would eventually
catch the eye of the UFC. They invited him to try out
for The Ultimate Fighter reality series. Alex did not
pass up the opportunity and found himself as one of the
cast mates on the first season. From that point on, Alex's
career excelled and he became very well known in the MMA
community. Alex has gone on to become a three-time UFC
veteran and is best known for his big heart and heavy
hands. He had one of the most memorable wars in UFC history
with TUF runner-up Kenny Florian. Expect
fireworks anytime this young slugger steps into the cage.
Alex currently resides in Las Vegas, NV and spends his
days training and teaching private lessons for a local
gym. Alex is making his way down to a lower weight class
and expects to make big statement in the lightweight division.
